ASE(Automotive Service Excellence)とは
米国にてメカニックの技術とサービスの質を向上させることを目的とした実践的な制度です。
1972年に設立された全米優良自動車サービス協会(National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence)がアメリカの自動車整備士制度として制定しました。現在はアメリカ国内だけでなくカナダ、メキシコ、ブラジルでも試験が行われている国際的な資格制度となっています。受験するには2年以上の実務経験、あるいはそれに準ずる能力を得たとみなされる教育課程の修了が必要です。また、日本の整備士資格と違い試験合格後も5年ごとに再テストを行う必要があります。
ASEの有資格者は「オートテクニシャン」と呼ばれ、「自動車/ライトトラック」カテゴリーの8科目をパスした者をマスターテクニシャンと呼びます。
